FGI Welding Basics for Geomembranes course starts December 2

The Flexible Geomembrane Institute will be hosting a four-part online short course on welding geomembranes in December.

The course includes four classes, each from Noon to 1:30 p.m. CST:

• ‍Part 1 – Dec. 2, 2025: Welding Different Geomembrane Polymers
• Part 2 – Dec. 4, 2025: Types of Welding and Equipment Selection
• ‍Part 3 – Dec. 9, 2025 : Welding Parameters
• ‍Part 4 – Dec. 11, 2025: Importance of Seam Testing

It will focus on the basics of welding geomembranes and understanding how to achieve a suitable weld quality, using thermal fusion welding technologies. e.g., hot wedge and hot air, and hand extrusion welders.

The course will be presented by Ron Frobel, registered professional engineer and owner/principal of R. K. Frobel & Associates Consulting Engineers, and Patrick Elliott, Director of Installation Services at Colorado Lining International (CLI), a Viaflex Company. Each session is eligible for 1.5 PDH (a total of 6.0 for the series).
