The North Carolina Department of Transportation is now being led by Daniel H. Johnson, who was recently appointed to the position by Gov. Josh Stein.
After being sworn in Oct. 1, Johnson officially began as State Transportation Secretary. Gov. Stein in September named Johnson as the successor to former Secretary Joey Hopkins, who retired after a 35-plus year career at NCDOT.
Secretary Johnson’s priorities include Hurricane Helene recovery, improvements within the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, and retaining and attracting the workforce at NCDOT.
