The Geo-Institute and ASCE are now accepting nominations for several institute and society awards that honor geotechnical engineers who have made significant contributions to the profession by achievement or published papers.

Nominations are due June 1 for the following awards:
- Ralph B. Peck Award – Established in 1999 by the Geo-Institute of the Society in honor of Ralph B. Peck, Dist.M.ASCE. Funds to support this award were donated by the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA, formerly ASFE). The award is presented for outstanding contributions to the geotechnical engineering profession through the publication of a thoughtful, carefully researched case history or histories, or the publication of recommended practices or design methodologies based on the evaluation of case histories.
- H. Bolton Seed Medal – This award was established by the Geotechnical Engineering Division (now the Geo-Institute) of the Society in memory of Professor H. Bolton Seed, Hon.M.ASCE. The H. Bolton Seed Medal is awarded for outstanding contributions to teaching, research and/or practice in geotechnical engineering.
- Karl Terzaghi Lecture – This lectureship was established by the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division (now the Geo-Institute) of the Society by the solicitation of gifts from the many friends and admirers of Karl Terzaghi, Hon.M.ASCE. Selection is based on his/her continuing contributions to the technical and/or professional stature of geotechnical engineering, as reflected in his/her publications, professional standing and, particularly, on ability to communicate verbally with both technical specialists and the civil engineering profession as a whole.
- Geo-Innovation Award (New) – The Geo-Innovation Award recognizes individuals or groups who advance geotechnical engineering through innovation early in the creation and adoption life cycle. The award honors excellence in invention, innovation, implementation and impact, celebrating contributions that introduce new ideas, methods or technologies to the geotechnical profession.
