Concrete Canvas was privileged to host His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan – Peter Vaughn QPM CStJ at its headquarters recently, where the company was officially presented with The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. This accolade recognizes outstanding British businesses that demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, and Concrete Canvas is proud to be among this year’s recipients.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, formerly known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, are regarded as the highest official UK awards for businesses. The selection process involves rigorous evaluation by the palace and the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee at 10 Downing Street. This year, 252 UK organizations were recognized, including 11 businesses from Wales, further showcasing the nation’s strong contribution to international trade and innovation.
During the Lord-Lieutenant’s visit, the Concrete Canvas team had the opportunity to showcase its cutting-edge manufacturing facilities in South Wales, where over 90% of its materials are produced for international export. Since its inception, Concrete Canvas products have reached more than 100 countries, a testament to its global impact and sustained international growth.
Co-Director Peter Brewin expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating: “Receiving The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade is a tremendous honor for Concrete Canvas. As part of this prestigious award, Concrete Canvas was presented with an official Grant of Appointment and a commemorative crystal trophy, both of which were presented by the Lord-Lieutenant. Winners of The King’s Awards for Enterprise hold the honor for five years and gain access to the awards’ alumni network, providing valuable opportunities to foster new business relationships and expand into new markets.
As winners, Darren Hughes, international business development manager, attended a royal reception hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle last summer. This recognition marks another milestone in Concrete Canvas’ journey of innovation and excellence. With previous accolades including The Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2014 and The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2019, the company remains committed to pushing the boundaries of material technology and continuing to make a global impact.
