Our journey to have annual issues that focus more specifically on areas of the geo world we hadn’t before continues with this special New Products Issue.
Our first annual Applications Issue included articles that delved into innovative applications projects where specific geosynthetic products were used while also attempting to answer not only why these products are important but why they were required or necessary for each application. Our hope was that these application case studies shed more light on this aspect of each project: how geosynthetics are used to solve problems.
For our annual Design/Installation Issue we brought back our popular Designer’s Forum feature as well as articles focused on how and why particular products were designed, how they are being used and how they were installed. Features included the latest innovations as well as a look at different design methodologies and model decisions as well as a re-visit of a few previously published geosynthetics projects. This time around we took a closer look at them from the design and installation angle and to see how they were holding up after years of real-life use.
And of course we still have our most popular and valued issue of the year, our annual Geosynthetics Specifier’s Guide, a comprehensive guide to products, applications and services for the geosynthetics industry.
This New Products Issue includes the new home for our annual Premier Product Showcase as well as expanded articles about new products, innovations and emerging technologies in the geosynthetics world. Other items you’ll find in this issue include a look at trends in geosynthetics and a closer look at several recent geosynthetic products that have hit the market and what went into them being conceived and introduced. Other additions include our updated Products Directory and a wrap-up of Geotechnical Frontiers 2025 in Louisville, Ky.
With this issue we also welcome two new columnists. Tim Stark, professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, updates us on the latest happenings at the Fabricated Geomembrane Institute. Diane Smith, recently appointed executive director of the Erosion Control Technology Council, discusses new trends in erosion and sediment control devices.
We hope you enjoy what we’ve come up with for this issue as the journey for new and innovative geosynthetics information continues!
