Soleno, a Quebec leader in water management, announces the opening of its first plant in the United States, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., confirming the company’s momentum and its determination to offer sustainable solutions to counter the aging of water management infrastructure in North America.
After successful expansions in Ontario and New Brunswick in recent years, Soleno is investing more than $22 million in this 45,000-square-foot plant, which began operations last August. A second phase of 25,000 square feet is already under consideration.
The Saratoga Springs facility will initially be dedicated to the exclusive manufacturing of the KUSTOMFLO line of high-performance pipes for the Canadian and American markets. Operating 7 days a week, the plant will also be a distribution center, strengthening Soleno’s ability to effectively meet the growing needs of its customers, including those located in the U.S., where initial orders have already been shipped.
“With this new plant, Soleno affirms its leadership position in the field of water management in North America,” said Alain Poirier, president, Soleno. “This project reflects our desire to offer cutting-edge solutions adapted to the specific needs of North American markets, while strengthening our production and distribution capacity. We see this expansion as an opportunity to push the boundaries of innovation for more resilient and sustainable infrastructures.”
“The establishment of a plant in Saratoga Springs allows us to reach a new milestone in terms of efficiency and proximity to our markets,” added Mathieu Cornellier, general manager of the Saratoga plant. “Our ability to produce locally strengthens our agility in meeting the specific needs of the American market, while integrating sustainable solutions that will benefit our Canadian customers. We are also proud to contribute to the economic vitality of the region by creating jobs and developing solid partnerships with local stakeholders.”
Soleno becomes the first supplier in Canada to offer the KUSTOMFLO product line, developed using German Krah Pipes technology, marking a significant advancement in the Canadian market. Manufactured primarily from high-density polyethylene, these pipes can offer one of the largest diameters on the market and are distinguished by their exceptional durability – over 100 years – their custom design capability and their low environmental impact, compared to traditional materials such as concrete.
Furthermore, KUSTOMFLO offers a solution to the challenges of aging underground infrastructure and the intensification of bad weather due to climate change. Corrosion-resistant and versatile, KUSTOMFLO pipes meet the most demanding standards and withstand extreme weather conditions as well as heavy traffic, making them ideal for the specific challenges of water infrastructure projects.
This expansion represents a decisive turning point for Soleno, which significantly enhances its range of products and services for its Quebec, Canadian and American customers. By expanding its expertise in stormwater management to a global approach to sustainable water management, Soleno now offers its customers comprehensive solutions tailored to their needs. With a variety of applications, from sanitary and hydroelectric networks to sewer networks, pressurized water distribution systems, culverts and water retention systems, the company offers products that are both efficient and guarantee a minimal footprint for each project.
The financial support provided by local partners, notably the SCIDA (Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency) and the SEDC (Saratoga Economic Development Corporation), was decisive for the realization of this project, which generates around 30 well-paid local jobs.
A leader in water control and management solutions and one of the largest conditioners of high-density polyethylene (#2 plastic) in Eastern Canada, Soleno manufactures and distributes a wide range of products for the capture, transport, treatment and storage of water for the infrastructure, residential, natural resources and agricultural development sectors. The majority of Soleno’s products are made of recycled high-density polyethylene, a lightweight and resistant material with a lifespan of over 100 years.
Today, Soleno represents a group of five business units including Soleno, Soleno Service, Soleno Textile and Bluewater Pipe which employs more than 550 workers spread across 13 industrial sites in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and the United States.
