Proper installation is key to all erosion and sediment control products. The Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) has installation guidance tools for various product technologies. ECTC is a leading industry organization home to top manufacturers of erosion and sediment control products, component suppliers, material distributors and test laboratories. ECTC members are dedicated to advancing knowledge, experience and expertise of erosion and sediment control.
The nonprofit organization’s mission is to develop performance standards, uniform testing procedures and guidance on the application and installation of rolled erosion control products (RECPs), hydraulic erosion control products (HECPs) and sediment retention fiber rolls (SRFRs). ECTC recently expanded its reach to other technologies and promotes the use of erosion and sediment control products through industry leadership and education in the hope of making a substantial contribution to the science of erosion control and environmental preservation.
ECTC’s toolbox on its new website contains a plethora of helpful installation support tools. General installation guidance documents are available for RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs for those who prefer to learn by reading. They provide “how to” steps from site preparation to the application of the products. For those who prefer to learn by watching, ECTC has a series of videos available in English and Spanish. Installation videos on RECPs are available that explain the overview of practices, slope applications, channelized flow applications and shorelines. General overview installation videos are also available for HECPs and SRFRs.
Lastly, ECTC provides several ready-to-use CAD files in .dwg and .pdf formats. The CAD files, along with ECTC specifications, are designed to be easily copied and pasted into project plans. CAD details for RECPs include slope, channel and shoreline installations. In addition, ECTC has CAD details for SRFR slope and channel installations along with various anchoring techniques.
ECTC members are committed to providing useful industry support items such as installation guidance tools.
