A discussion with members of the U.S. House of Representatives will be held at the Bipartisan Policy Center on Wednesday, September 11, at 4:00 p.m. Titled “Accelerating U.S. Energy Infrastructure: The Urgency of Permitting Reform,” this discussion is open to the public.

Distinguished speakers include:

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) | Vice Chair, Conservative Climate Caucus; Chair, Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Minerals Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA) | Member, House Transportation and Infrastructure and Natural Resources Committees

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) | Co-Chair, Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus

Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA) | Vice Chair, New Democrat Coalition Climate Change Task Force; Member, House Energy and Commerce Committee

The conversation will focus on what policies both sides of the aisle could support in a federal permitting bill. The discussion will also include the House’s take on the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 (S. 4753), recently reported by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee with a vote of 15-4.

As background, please see BPC’s explainer on the Energy Permitting Reform Act and the report, Finding the Goldilocks Zone for Permitting Reform, which outlines 70 bipartisan policy options ranked by effectiveness and political controversy. Several of these policy options closely mirror those in the Senate bill. A networking reception will follow the moderated Q&A from 5-6 p.m.

This event is hosted by BPC and BPCA and has been designed to comply with Congressional ethics requirements. Join the conversation @BPC_Bipartisan | #BPCLive
