Defense department chooses Tiltex 12B for flood drainage project

News | December 15, 2023 | By:

Tiltex Australia recently completed a 2900m2 flood drainage channel project for the Australia Department of Defense. Tiltex 12B was selected to replace 100mm concrete, not only due to the cost, sustainability and installation advantages, but to mitigate the higher financial and environmental cost of over 300m3 of concrete going to landfill at the end of its design life.

Tiltex Australia’s installation team installed Tiltex 12B into flood channels and terminated complex sealing of Tiltex 12B to the concrete headwall and culvert outlet structures. Its exclusive STAB 40 seam bonding was used and CQA testing was completed and approved by the client.

Tiltex 12B provided 80MPa Compressive Strength and 16.1MPa Flexural Strength. It was imperative that a fast, efficient installation was completed before the tropical wet weather season began in Far North Queensland.

The Tiltex Australia installation team completed complicated sealing termination using stainless steel mechanical fixing to irregular shaped and sloping concrete outlet structure wing walls with converging earth batters. Learn more about Tiltex here.
