IECA webinar – Understand EPA’s National Certification Program and State-Specific Certification Standards – Oct. 5

The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) webinar – Understand EPA’s National Certification Program and State-Specific Certification Standards – will be held October 5, 2023 1 p.m. MT and you can register here.

The webinar is for qualified inspectors and state-specific CGPs and will provide pathways to creating a qualified inspection workforce. Maderators are Kristi Anspach, CPESC and Donald Pearson, EI, CPESC; Panelists are Rebecca Forman, David Harris, Kendra Henderson and Greg Schaner.

In the 2022 Federal CGP, a pivotal update introduced the concept of a ‘qualified inspector,’ stipulating a mandatory minimum certification level for all sites falling under the purview of the federal CGP. To facilitate compliance with this requirement, the EPA has established a comprehensive national certification program, while also endorsing alternative certifications that adhere to the same rigorous standards.

Presently, certain states have developed specialized certifications tailored to their unique needs, which have received the EPA’s seal of approval for meeting the new standards. This empowers inspectors in delegated authority states to deepen their understanding of NPDES permits, best management practices (BMPs), and project-specific requirements, enabling them to conduct more informed and effective inspections. The panel will discuss how states have launched the certification program and discuss how successful the current programs are. The group will dive into lessons learned on creating a program, and how the program should develop over time.

Can’t attend live? No problem! Sign up and receive access to the recording on-demand, posted shortly after the conclusion of the live webinar.
