In announcing the selection, ITE International president Rosana Correa, P.E., PTOE, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Steve Kuciemba as our new executive director and CEO. With a passion for innovation and a profound understanding of our industry’s evolving landscape, Steve is set to continue ITE’s trajectory of mindful growth and steady progress. His record of leadership and demonstrated commitment to ITE’s ideals are unquestionable as he promises to continue to bring immense value to our organization and its members.”

Michael Sanderson, P.E., PTOE, 2018 international president, led the search committee and shared his perspective: “After an exhaustive search and a rigorous evaluation process, the committee unanimously selected Steve Kuciemba as ITE’s next CEO. Steve will build on Jeff Paniati’s remarkable legacy and lead ITE forward to even greater success. His exemplary record of leadership and his passion for advancing the transportation profession are perfectly aligned with the board’s vision for the future, and his qualifications and enthusiasm will steer ITE and its members to new levels of achievement.”

Kuciemba has been part of ITE’s executive leadership team as deputy executive director and chief technical officer since October 2022. As CTO, Steve supports the Council Leadership Team, six technical councils and 15 standing committees; leads ITE’s multi-million-dollar annual contract program; facilitates partnerships with other associations; guides the technical program for the ITE Annual Meeting and the Spring Conference; and manages the ITE technical staff.

Kuciemba has more than 35 years of transportation experience in the public sector, private sector, and in the association space. ITE executive director and CEO Jeffrey F. Paniati, P.E., remarked, “I have known Steve for more than 20 years and have had the opportunity to work with him closely over the last year. Steve is ideally suited to take on the CEO role; he brings an ideal combination of technical knowledge, industry experience, and leadership ability. I am excited to see where he takes ITE.”
