Progress at a landfill in Florida continues on schedule, even with recent additions to the project. COMANCO was contracted to complete the earthwork for a new landfill cell. However, when the client granted a change order mid-project, the company also assumed responsibility for the geosynthetics installation. Now Juan Morales leads the team in his new position as foreman under superintendent Bill Newman’s guidance.
Since finishing the subgrade preparation, COMANCO has also completed the toe drain, liner, and geocomposite. On their next step, the team has made substantial progress in installing the protective cover, with 50% of the slope done.
Additionally, the team worked on the stormwater system, a crucial component to direct leachate to the designated location and prevent environmental contamination.
To ensure the highest quality and durability, COMANCO utilizes top-of-the-line materials. This 10-acre site required gravel procured from Conrad Yelvington, 40mil HDPE Textured Geomembrane from SKAPS, and 275mil DS Geocomposite from SKAPS. These companies are pivotal in COMANCO’s effort to construct efficient and environmentally sound landfills. With a keen focus on quality and timely completion, COMANCO is proud to contribute to securing a greener future.
