Concrete Canvas Ltd. announced that its CC5, CC8 and CC13 GCCMs are the first products to demonstrate compliance with the GCCM classification for Type I, Type II and Type III, respectively.
In March 2021 ASTM International published ASTM D8364/D8364M-21: Standard Specification for Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM) Materials. This standard is the only internationally recognized standard for specifying GCCMs and lists typical GCCM erosion control and weed suppression applications by three classification types: Type I, Type II and Type III.
ASTM product specifications make specifying the right product easier for the designer while ensuring they meet minimum performance requirements, helping to prevent project failures.
The minimum performance requirements of each GCCM Classification Type have been defined within ASTM D8364, defining the appropriate GCCM specific test standards to use, such as: ASTM D8329 for compressive strength and ASTM D8058 for flexural strength.
Specifying GCCM classification types to ASTM D8364 protects specifiers from designing with GCCM test data that may not be representative of in-the-field GCCM performance, helping ensure the GCCM is suitable for the intended application.
Purchasing GCCMs that comply with ASTM D8364protects contractors and clients from being misled by manufacturers who provide performance data using inappropriate non-GCCM standards that may not represent the performance that can be achieved in the field.
The performance properties of Concrete Canvas GCCM materials have been independently tested to the standards specified in ASTM D8364.
