PGI rebranding, selects AVINTIV as new company name

News | June 18, 2015 | By:

Charlotte, N.C.-based Polymer Group Inc. (PGI) announced in a June press release that it is rolling out a new corporate brand and identity “that align with its commitment to developing and delivering high-impact solutions for its customers.”

The release stated that as a first step in this process, “PGI has selected AVINTIV as its new company name. The concept behind the AVINTIV name comes from the combination of the words ‘advanced,’ ‘inventive,’ and ‘innovative.’”

The press release said: “The company is changing the name of its parent company from PGI Specialty Materials Inc. to AVINTIV Inc. as the first step in a broader identity transformation.” It will register similar name changes for many of its operating subsidiaries, according to the release.

In 2013, PGI completed its acquisition of Fiberweb, including the brands and facilities in Old Hickory, Tenn., just outside Nashville. Fiberweb was the long-time home for the Typar and Terram brands that included nonwoven geotextiles, geocomposites, geocells, and landscaping fabrics.

PGI followed up by acquiring two more nonwovens companies—Brazil-based Providencia in 2014 and France-based Dounor in 2015.
