Almost 60 million m2 production capacity

Belgium-based Low & Bonar and its Bonar division, which specializes in manufacturing of technical textiles and fabrics, announced in a press release last week the start of construction for a new factory in Changzhou, China.

According to the release, the new facility will support a fast-growing Asian market and “… will facilitate from the start one production line for 60 million m2 of Colback carpet backing.”

Changzhou is located on the east-central coast of China, on the southern bank of the Yangtze River in the Yangtze Delta region of China.

The press release noted that the total cost of the investment will be about €32m (more than $41m USD) spread over two years and funded by Bonar’s own resources. Alex Xu, Bonar’s country manager for China, said: “Production is expected to commence in 2016, with sales and technical support provided by the team located in Shanghai.”
