HUESKER to host webinar on GEC systems

HUESKER will host a free webinar on geotextile encased columns (GEC) on Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. EDT. Oliver Detert, Head of the Engineering Department at HUESKER, will lead the webinar.

The geotextile sleeve allows the accommodation of high vertical loads by compensating for the lack of lateral support to the granular columns from the soft soil. Given that the dewatering effect of the GEC (“mega-drains”) vastly speeds up consolidation times, more than 90% of settlement takes place during the construction period. Furthermore, creep settlement is reduced by up to 50% compared to unimproved ground.
