Seaman Corp., a leading industrial coated fabrics company, has received recognition by Comparably as having the Best CEO 2019, according to a news release from Seaman Corp.
This recognition adds to Seaman’s streak of workplace accolades, including The Perfect Engine Award (2012), Industry Leadership Award (2014) and Evolution of Manufacturing Excellence Honoree (2015). A recent USA Today article recognized John Crum as being ranked 47th out of the top 50 CEOs in the nation for small- and medium-sized business in its annual ranking of CEOs.
For the last five years, Crum has focused internally on increasing associate engagement, professional development opportunities and adopting a corporate entrepreneurial mindset. His work on establishing a Connect and Grow Committee within the organization has helped to increase communication and engagement. The company recently surpassed $200 million in organic growth and continues to invest in creating an environment where employees can thrive both at work and outside of work.
Comparably award winners are determined by comparing anonymously-provided sentiment ratings from employees at 50,000 U.S. companies. Comparably’s best CEO award selection is based on how employees rated their CEOs; this year’s awards resulted from employees’ ratings completed between November 2018 and November 2019.
“The best executives not only possess strong leadership skills that drive business objectives; they are transparent and personally engaged with their teams,” said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar in the release. “The outstanding leaders on our annual Best CEOs list have these attributes and more, according to employee sentiment on Comparably.com within the last year.”
“I appreciate this recognition, but this award really belongs to the great associates that work at Seaman Corporation and the great culture we have,” said Crum.
Crum still plans to retire from Seaman Corporation on December 31, 2020. He feels that the great culture at Seaman Corporation will be a major asset to the next CEO that follows him. A national search is ongoing for his successor to ensure a seamless transition while Crum is still in his role.
