TeMa (Technologies & Material S.R.L) has officially opened its wholly owned African subsidiary, TeMa South Africa. The business will have its sales office and stock warehouse based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and will aim to service the complete sub-Saharan region of the continent. Darryn Meisel has been appointed as the new company’s CEO and is supported by an experienced technical and sales team eager and ready to tackle the new markets.

“Africa has always been an attractive market for us and a natural fit for TeMa’s expansion strategy into new and exciting geographical areas,” said Nicola Busatta, TeMa Group CEO. “The market is not new to TeMa, having supplied several of our products on numerous occasions in the past.” He added, “Having a permanent office and readily available stock will now allow us to build on these past successes. Darryn and his team bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge of the market to further ensure the success and growth of the new office.”

TeMa South Africa will promote and distribute the company’s full range of construction products from its Geo, Building and Interior divisions. This will include the full range of geosynthetic products, including geotextiles, geogrid reinforcement, geocells, cuspated sheets (including the new MD Drain), composite crainage systems, erosion control mechanisms, subsoil drainage piping, gabions/mattresses and geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs).

“These [geosynthetics] are sourced from TeMa’s internal manufacturing capabilities as well as from a wide range of local and international supply partners with which the group has a long-running track record and that are proud to be associated with the TeMa brand,” said Darryn. “The geosynthetics products are supplemented with the building range of products which focus on bituminous waterproofing membranes, thermal insulation and the company’s world-renowned roofing shingles range,” he added. “This allows us to have a comprehensive and complementary product range, which is supported by a reliable advisory and quality-oriented service offering, that contributes identifiable benefit and value-add to the entire construction and building customer group.”
