Officine Maccaferri, a global leader in the civil and environmental engineering sector, has announced the appointment of Stefano Susani as the group’s new chief executive officer, effective immediately. Susani succeeds Lapo Vivarelli Colonna, who assumes the new role of group senior vice president. With 30 years of experience in the infrastructure and sustainability sector, Susani will take over the leadership of the group, contributing to the achievement of the ambitious objectives set out in the strategic plan. These include both organic and external growth, through targeted acquisitions in strategic sectors and geographical areas, and the consolidation of the operating results already achieved by strengthening the supply chain.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stefano to our team; his experience and vision allow us to strengthen the management team to successfully face the challenges ahead,” said Sergio Iasi, chairman of Officine Maccaferri. “With his appointment, and thanks to the support of Ambienta, the group takes a further step towards a new phase of development, consolidating its role as a global leader in the field of sustainable and environmentally friendly civil engineering solutions. I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to Colonna, who has played a central role in the transformation and repositioning of Maccaferri in recent years. I am confident that, in his new role, and thanks to his experience and deep knowledge of the group, he will be even more instrumental to our success.”
Before joining Maccaferri, Susani was CEO of Amplia Infrastructures, a subsidiary of the Autostrade per l’Italia Group. He has developed a deep knowledge of the sector, thanks to a professional path that saw him hold roles of technical and managerial responsibility in some of the main companies operating in the world of infrastructure, active in Italy and abroad. At the same time, the board of directors appointed Fabio Roppoli as the new chief operating officer. Thanks to the solid skills acquired in the field of production transformations in international contexts, Roppoli will oversee the group’s production and industrial operations in coordination with Alexandre Texeira, who will assume the leadership of the Americas area (Latam and North America). Aaron Smith will continue to maintain the leadership of the North American market, contributing to the further development of the area. Colonna, as group senior vice president, will assume responsibility for the strategy development area, business development and M&A operations towards new markets. Colonna will also maintain his position as a director on the board of directors of Officine Maccaferri.
“I am proud to be able to join Officine Maccaferri, a pioneer in innovation for the sustainable civil engineering sector for over 140 years, which thanks to its international presence and its engineering skills and technological innovations has been able to emerge as a global leader and point of reference,” Susani said. “I am excited to put my experience at the service of the group and to be able to work on its growth and further development with the chairman Sergio Iasi and our shareholders, whom I thank for the esteem and trust placed in me. I look forward to starting to work with the entire great Maccaferri team.”
