News | October 1, 2024 | By:

The Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) presents the webinar – Contrasts & Opportunities for Geosynthetics in the Americas – on October 10, 2024 at noon CDT. The presenters are Vinicius Benjamim, Ph.D. (ENG Consultoria) and Victor Pimentel, M.Sc. (Geo Soluções Brasil). The webinar is free to industry professionals and students, a 1.0 PDH is available and you can register here.

You can also watch pre-recorded versions of the webinar:

October 11, 2024 at Noon AEST (Pre-recorded – Australia)

October 11, 2024 at Noon CAT (Pre-recorded – South Africa)

October 14, 2024 at 5 pm JST (Pre-recorded – Japan)

This webinar will explore how geosynthetics can contribute to sustainability efforts in North America (the U.S. and Canada) and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to achieve the UN’s sustainability goals. It will present both practical and theoretical insights, showcasing how geosynthetics can effectively reduce CO2 emissions and generate carbon credits in these regions. Join us to learn about the potential for collaboration and impactful solutions.

Dr. Vinicius Benjamim is a civil engineer with a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP, Brazil), where he participated in the construction and assembly of the Laboratory of Geosynthetics. He worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin. He has over 25 years of experience with geosynthetics projects. Vinicius currently works for ENG Consultoria in Brazil, developing projects in geotechnical and environmental engineering.

Victor Pimentel is a civil engineer with an M.Sc. in geotechnical engineering from the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP, Brazil), he was a member of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) council from 2008 to 2016, and served as chair of the Pan-American Activities Committee during that time. He was also the president of the Brazilian IGS Chapter (IGS Brasil) from 2019 to 2023 and is currently a member of the IGS Sustainability Committee. As a founding partner of Geo Soluções Brasil since 2002, he has actively promoted the specification and proper use of geosynthetics in over 500 projects across various sectors in Latin America, including roadworks, environmental initiatives, energy, mining, and real estate.
