Layfield expanding its Canada operations

New facilities in Vancouver and Edmonton

To support continued North American and international growth, the Layfield Group of Companies announced in a May 1 press release new capital expansion plans for its Vancouver, B.C., and Edmonton, AB, operations.

The Vancouver expansion includes the addition of a new blown-film extrusion line, adding 24 million pounds (10.9 million kg) of new capacity and facility upgrades, according to the release. This expansion will provide new capacity for Layfield’s core product lines of geomembranes, construction films, and specialty packaging products. Completion is expected by September 2012, the release said.

The Edmonton expansion includes a 12-acre site, 125,000-square-foot (11,600 m2) office, distribution, and production facility. The expanded production capacity will be designed for converting geomembranes, geosynthetics, and industrial fabrics using new welding and sewing technologies, according to the release. Construction of this new facility is currently under way with a completion date of January 2013.
