Arnold named CEO at GSE

The Board of Directors of Gundle/SLT Environmental Inc. (GSE) announced that Mark C. Arnold joins the company as president, CEO, and director effective Sept. 14, 2009.

Prior to his GSE appointment, Arnold was vice president and general manager at Lubrizol Corp. leading a global business unit focused on growth in the Pacific Rim, India, South America, and the Middle East. Arnold brings more than 15 years of experience in the global civil construction markets at Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS), the world’s largest manufacturer of polyethylene drainage products.

Arnold developed and managed 32 ADS distribution centers, and a nationwide network of engineering offices. As ADS’s vice president and general manager of international operations, he ran four manufacturing companies outside the U.S. serving road construction, mining, aquaculture, and other civil construction markets.

Prior to ADS, Arnold worked for General Electric. His GE career began in the manufacturing management program, and was followed by assignments in GE’s aircraft engines unit as a process engineer, quality manager, program manager, and manager of technical marketing.

Arnold served in the U.S. Army prior to joining GE and he is currently a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is a special forces officer and served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Arnold graduated from Ohio University with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. He earned an MBA at Cleveland State University and a master’s in strategic studies at the U.S. Army War College. He serves on the board for Ohio University’s College of Engineering.

Mark Arnold and his wife, Karin, have two children, Kristen, a college sophomore, and Eric, a high school senior.
