Ron: Andrew, you are in D.C. this week. Tell us about your schedule and priorities for the week.

Andrew: It is TRB (Transportation Research Board) week. We had an FHWA-industry meeting regarding MSE Wall/RSS Strategic Planning and Coordination on Sunday. On Monday, the GMA Executive Council met with a full agenda, including an update and strategy session with our lobbyist on our legislative initiatives—coal-ash waste regulation, a geotextile separation study, the upcoming Water Resources Development Act, etc. We also did some planning for our Lobby Day coming up March 1-2. Tuesday, the 12th, was the AFS70 Geosynthetics Meeting at TRB.

Ron: You are no sooner back from TRB, then it is off to San Antonio for a couple of days of ASTM meetings. What is on the agenda there?

Andrew: We have a joint Geogrid Focus Group meeting with Geosynthetic Research Institute, in addition to the ASTM D35 activities.

Ron: You are not attending, but we should mention that the ASTM days are followed by the 23rd annual Geosynthetic Research Institute conference (GRI-23) on Jan. 29: “Workshop on Geosynthetic Material Durability: Field and Laboratory Experiences.” Workshop cochairs, Sam Allen of TRI and George Koerner of GSI, have lined up a full day featuring 20 presentations on the subject. Good stuff!
