The EPA has released the reports assessing the structural integrity of coal-ash waste sites in the U.S. These reports are basically dam inspection assessments and do not address potential leaching of these sites into groundwater.

Most of the reports include recommendations to improve the stability of dam slopes. Many of the EPA evaluations included requirements for monitoring of slope stability, additional and improved erosion control, and repair and modification of dam crests.

A decision from the EPA regarding requirements for liners for these facilities is still under consideration.
