Ron: Andrew, it looks like there is good momentum growing for Geo-Frontiers11 in Dallas. The Call for Proposals is out now, seeking ideas for panel discussions, workshops, short courses, and demos. Interested participants should contact Barbara Connett.

Andrew: Yes, it is shaping up as a great event.  It is co-organized by the Geo-Institute of ASCE, NAGS, GMA, and IFAI. And it is conducted under the auspices of IGS.

Geo-Frontiers11 will also include the GRI-24 Conference.

What’s more, we have top-notch talent on the organizing committee including:

• Organizing Committee Co-Chairs: Jim Collin from The Collin Group and Dave Suits, Executive Director of NAGS, along with Honorary Chairman Bernard Myles
• Technical Advisory Co-Chairs: Prof. Jie Han from the University of Kansas and Daniel Alzamora from the Federal Highway Administration
• Short Course Chair is Ben Rivers from FHWA
• Student Paper Competition Chair is Prof. Ahmet Aydilek from the University of Maryland
• Wall Design Competition: Prof. Robert Parsons, University of Kansas
• Local Liaison: Prof. Anand Puppala, University of Texas at Arlington
• Exhibits/Sponsorship Chair: Andrew Aho, GMA (well, mostly top-notch!)

By the way, congratulations to you and Geosynthetics magazine for recently winning the Silver Award for Best Technical Article.

Ron: What great contributors for GeoFrontiers!

And thanks for mentioning the Minnesota Magazine Publishers award. Great credit should go to author Archie Filshill, president of CETCO Contracting Services, and to graphic designer Heidi Hanson, who put together the front cover and pages 22–30 for the cover story, “Pyrite remediation: Geosynthetic answers for I-99’s problems” in the April/May 2009 issue of Geosynthetics.

Ron Bygness is the editor of Geosynthetics magazine. Andrew Aho is the managing director of the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA).
