New company, familiar faces
October 19, 2009 | Ron Bygness and Andrew Aho
Ron: Andrew, it looks like we have something new from some old friends. The launch of a new geosynthetics company—Syntec—Oct. 1 was accomplished when this group acquired the environmental division of Tenax Corp.
Andrew: Yes, I understand that Giovanni Capra and Aigen Zhao are the owners of this new company, both former Tenax employees. You may recall that Giovanni is the past Chairman of the GMA Executive Council. He set the stage for GMA to create our government relations program, the first of its kind for geosynthetics. Aigen has also been very involved in GMA, as well as serving on your Editorial Advisory Committee. It is great to have a couple of active geo guys at the helm. We wish them well with their new venture.
Ron: Well wishes for sure! Aigen’s contributions to the magazine over the years have been exceptional and always well-received. Two other friends of note now with Syntec: Larry Salzer, who is based here in Minnesota, is now the national sales manager for Syntec; and Jessica Martin, a former Tenax engineer who we met during GMA’s first Capitol Hill Education Forum in 2007, is also with Syntec.
Best wishes and good luck to all!
