Propex offers new barrier fabric

A Sept. 14 press release has introduced a new product from Geotextile Systems by Propex—Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric, a nonwoven, polypropylene geotextile designed to protect utility and water lines and contaminated soil areas from digging.

As with Propex’s black geotextile fabric, the Geotex fibers are needle-punched to form a stable network of fibers. Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric is available in styles ranging from 4oz. to 10oz. per square yard.

“Geotex Orange Barrier Fabric is just one more protective step for excavation jobs that signals workers with its bright orange color to stop digging in areas that may have cables, water lines or contamination,” said Craig Martin, vice president of Geotextile Systems.

With strength and dimensional stability for soil separation, the new barrier fabric also provides drainage with water flow rates of 150 gallons per minute, according to the press release.

Recommended applications include: underground utilities, historic sites, hazard areas, waste and water management, landfills, highways, air strips and fields.

The release also noted that the Geotex fabric meets Propex’s internal Manufacturing Quality Control (MQC) tests accredited by the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute–Laboratory Accreditation Program (GAI-LAP).
