Albania to surface road links

Albania’s road network is currently in poor condition with insufficient highway capacity for the volume of vehicles.

The country has few paved highways and many unsurfaced roads. However, the Albanian government has pledged a paving initiative, starting with coastal roads that will be paved by the end of 2010.

The goal is to boost coastal tourism and help to develop the country’s struggling economy.
