TenCate Geosynthetics Americas has developed a new patent-pending geosynthetic for road reinforcement, TenCate Mirafi® RS380i, detailed in an Aug. 5 press release.
In May 2010, TenCate introduced TenCate Mirafi® RS580i, an engineered, high-strength geosynthetic product for base reinforcement and subgrade stabilization. RS380i is a lighter RS-Series product that will enable designers to continue to provide more economical solutions for roadway reinforcement applications, the press release stated.
“We have had a tremendous amount of interest and use from engineers with RS580i, so we felt it was important to provide a second option for less-severe applications,” said Todd Anderson, TenCate’s vice president of sales.
TenCate’s RS-Series products integrate the five main properties needed for successful performance in roadways: separation, reinforcement, confinement, filtration, and product identification. The double layer construction provides filtration and drainage, while also providing separation and high strength at low strains, the release said.
