The Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) has announced a worldwide call for requests-for-proposals (RFPs) focusing on innovative geosynthetics research and development projects. This will be Class No. 2 for this award, the first presented in 2008. There are multiple awards, each for $10,000 per year, and they are renewable pending an annual written report, to a total of $25,000 per student. It is required that students must have completed their candidacy examinations leading to a doctorial degree in engineering or science.

The proposals must be submitted in the following four-page format (no exceptions):

  • Page 1 — Letter of recommendation from student’s department head or advisor
  • Page 2 — Title and detailed abstract
  • Page 3 — Student’s resume
  • Page 4 — Documentation of completed candidacy examination

The RFPs for the 2009-2010 academic years must be submitted to both of the undersigned via E-mail by June 15, 2009, and awards will be announced by Sept. 1, 2009. Review of the proposals is by the nine-person GSI Board of Directors. For more information on GSI and this particular program, visit: www.geosynthetic-institute.org, “GSI Fellowships and Projects.”
