IGS–NA to host geohydraulics meetings

The Technical Committee on Hydraulics of the North American Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS–NA) will host two interrelated events in New Orleans, La., Nov. 7–9, 2017, that IGS–NA says are certain to deliver compelling technical progress and serve as an educational service to the engineering and construction communities at large.

 

 Event 1: Geohydraulic Experts Think Tank and TC-H Committee Meeting 

WHERE: Renaissance Pere Marquette New Orleans
WHEN: November 7, 2017

WHO: Geosynthetic Industry’s Top Minds on Hydraulic and Filtration Engineering
WHAT: Focused presentations and discussion designed to move the industry forward. These discussions will bring together some of the top contributors in the geohydraulics community to strategize about the path forward on each subject, including considerations of technical consensus vs. continuing technical needs, educational efforts, and potential publications. Event 2: Geohydraulics I: Geosynthetics for Coastal and River Protection

WHERE: Renaissance Pere Marquette New Orleans
WHEN: November 8–9, 2017

WHO: Engineers, designers, contractors, and regulators interested in understanding the state-of-practice design and construction for coastal and river protection in North America.

WHAT: Attendees at this course will be exposed to the range of technologies available to address hydraulic management. Instructors will discuss design criteria, methods, and codes, and provide guidance for the evaluation of product performance and selection.
