Leister Technologies AG issued a press release Feb. 27 that announced it will debut the Leister Quality System (LQS) to the North American geosynthetic audience at Geotechnical Frontiers in Orlando, Fla., March 12–15, 2017.

The company’s new GPS-based geo-welding technology enables geosynthetic installers to record primary weld parameters and create enhanced reports. The press release said that the LQS works automatically in the background thanks to an intelligent communication module. Some benefits include:

  • Recording of weld parameters (speed, temperature and pressure)
  • Recording of individual seam lengths, with start and stop time
  • Easily identifies and locates weld anomalies via GPS position
  • Easily adds seam number, roll number, and technician ID
  • Data is easily transferable via Wi-Fi

Thomas Furrer, head of Leister’s Geo business line, said: “LQS is more than just a data acquisition system, LQS is an entire solution; it enables field personnel to communicate weld results directly with the office through the use of the LQS app.”

The press release noted that Leister’s presentations will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March, 14; and again at 12-noon on Wednesday, March 15, during the Geotechnical Frontiers conference and trade show at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Admission is free and open to media and Geotechnical Frontiers attendees.

Leister Technologies AG has been a worldwide producer of plastic welding and hot-air equipment for more than 60 years. The Swiss manufacturer’s plastic-welding products are used in roof sealing systems, floor coverings, plastic sheeting, earthworks, hydraulic and tunnel engineering, process equipment manufacturing and for vehicle repair.
