Sioen acquires Italian nonwovens manufacturer Manifattura Fontana

Sioen Industries NV, a Belgian-based producer of technical textiles, chemicals, and high-tech protective clothing, announced March 8 its takeover of Manifattura Fontana, an Italian producer of nonwoven geotextiles serving the European civil engineering markets.

With the acquisition, Sioen looks to reinforce its nonwoven business with a new product line—geotextiles used in civil engineering applications.

Manifattura Fontana, founded in 1704 and located in Vicenza, Italy, is a manufacturer of nonwovens at its four production lines, with a total capacity of 10,000 tons/year.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Francesco Fontana will remain as managing director. The company will be integrated into the Sioen nonwovens business sector.
