Geo Soluuções wins Milton Vargas Award

Strata Systems’ sister company cited for innovative use of geosynthetics

A Nov. 17 press release issued by Cumming, Ga.-based Strata Systems Inc. noted that Geo Soluções Ltd., a Strata sister company, won a Milton Vargas Award for the article, “StrataSlope,” which was featured in the November 2013 issue of the Brazilian publication Foundations & Geotechnical Works.

The press release said that the Vargas Award distinguishes works, projects, and professionals who stand out throughout the year in geotechnical engineering in Brazil. Geo Soluções received the award in the Innovation category, which recognizes achievement in advancement of a job, equipment, technique, or development through innovation.

The Milton Vargas Award is granted by a body of 45 professors from engineering universities in Brazil who assess notable projects and individuals in nine categories including: Innovation, Environmental, Foundations, Geosynthetics, Foundations, Infrastructure, Sustainability, Smart Solutions, and Professional of the Year.

The award was created in 2011 and is named for renowned Brazilian civil engineer, Milton Vargas, who was a pioneer in the field of soil mechanics.

Strata and Geo Soluções are sister companies under parent, Burlington, N.C.-based Glen Raven Inc.
