Whaley to focus on geogrid sales at Bakken shale play.

Atlanta-based Tensar International, announced is a July 28 press release the relocation of Scott Whaley, regional sales manager, from Alpharetta, Ga., to Mandan, N.D. The strategic move will strengthen Tensar’s footprint in the area surrounding the Bakken shale oil and gas play, according to the release.

“North Dakota is a booming market for civil engineering and construction, driven largely by the Bakken shale play and agriculture,” Whaley said.

The release said that in his role as regional sales manager, Whaley will promote and support the inclusion of geosynthetics in roadway and ground improvement design applications. These include pavement optimization, subgrade stabilization, bearing capacity improvement, asphalt overlay enhancement, and subsurface drainage.

The press release noted that the primary goal for the move is to increase knowledge and use of Tensar geogrids. Whaley said, “This technology offers demonstrated cost and performance advantages … and my mission is to deliver this message to owners, engineers, and contractors in North Dakota.”
