Honduras 2014 in Tegucigalpa June 16-18
One of the newest chapters of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) is hosting Honduras 2014: The First Honduran National Conference on Geosynthetics, June 16-18.
The event will be held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, at the College of Civil Engineering. An exhibit show, technical sessions, and international speakers highlight this Spanish/English language event, which will include some simultaneous translations.
The planned schedule includes:
June 15: Exhibition show setup
June 16: keynote lectures by IGS president Jorge Zornberg, “Ingenuity in geotechnical design using geosynthetics,” and IGS vice president Russell Jones, “Geosynthetic barriers for waste containment”; technical sessions; and a design workshop with Ing. Ausgusto Alza, “Introduction to design with geosynthetics.”
June 17: keynote lectures by IGS immediate past president Fumio Tatsuoka, “Geosynthetic-reinforced soil structures: A cost-effective solution combining two engineering disciplines,” and IGS treasurer Peter Legg, “Closure and rehabilitation of waste disposal facilities”; technical sessions; and a design workshop with Ing. Ausgusto Alza, “Designing with geosynthetics: Typical applications for highway projects.”
June 18: keynote lecture by Dr. Jorge Zornberg, “Advances in the use of geosynthetic reinforcements for paved roads”; and a technical session, “General application of geosynthetics in civil and environmental projects: “Case studies in Honduras and foreign countries.”
