Two geosynthetics projects are recognized
The Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) announced its 2013 International Achievement Awards (IAA) for design excellence in specialty fabrics applications Oct. 24 at the IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo 2013 and Advanced Textiles Conference & Trade Show, at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Two geosynthetics companies received IAAs:

Pendergrass, Ga., USA
Project: Embraport Container and Bulk Fuel Terminal in Santos, Brazil
Outstanding Achievement Award
ACE Geosynthetics
Taichung, Taiwan, Republic of China
Project: Geotextile Tube Application on Containment Breakwater in UAE
An Oct. 24 IFAI press release said that the trade association received a total of 236 entries from 13 countries submitted in 29 categories for the 2013 competition. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness, and function. Judges included industry experts, editors, architects, educators, and design professionals who were chosen for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area, according to the release.
IAA entries were recognized at the IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo 2013 and Advanced Textiles Conference & Trade Show, the largest specialty fabrics trade show in the Americas.
The press release noted that for more than six decades, the IAA has recognized excellence in design and innovation, highlighting exemplary work in the specialty fabrics and technical textiles industry. The goal of the IAA is to promote awareness of the specialty fabrics used in thousands of products and applications ranging in size and type.
The International Achievement Awards competition is sponsored annually by Roseville, Minn.-based IFAI, a not-for-profit trade association with 1,800 member companies that represent the international specialty fabrics and technical textiles marketplace.
