Mark Arnold departs as GSE president/CEO

GSE Holding Inc. (GSE) announced in a July 1 press release that Mark Arnold, its president and CEO, is leaving the company. GSE’s board of directors has named Charles A. Sorrentino, a current board member, interim president and CEO effective immediately.

The release said that “Sorrentino will work closely with GSE’s current management team and board of directors to oversee the company’s ongoing planned initiatives.” The GSE board has retained Heidrick & Struggles to undertake a search for a new chief executive officer.

GSE board chairman, Robert C. Griffin, said, “On behalf of GSE, I want to thank Mark for his valuable service to the company and wish him every success.”

The press release noted that Sorrentino retired on Jan. 1, 2012, from Houston Wire & Cable Co., a public company traded on the NASDAQ, where he served as president and CEO for nearly 14 years. He has more than 30 years of general management experience that includes the manufacturing, distribution, and construction industries.

Houston-based GSE is a global manufacturer and marketer of geosynthetic lining products and services used in the containment and management of solids, liquids, and gases for organizations engaged in waste management, mining, water, wastewater, and aquaculture.
