Flint, TenCate cited for geosynthetics projects
In a Nov. 7 press release from its annual Expo, the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) announced the winners of its 2012 International Achievement Awards (IAA) for design excellence in specialty fabrics applications. The awards were presented Nov. 7 at IFAI’s Expo Americas 2012 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
In the IAA geosynthetic projects category, Flint Industries (Metter, Ga.) received the Award of Excellence and TenCate Geosynthetics (Pendergrass, Ga.) received an Outstanding Achievement Award (see below). Both projects will be featured in the February/March 2013 issue of Geosynthetics magazine.
The press release said that IFAI received a total of 335 entries from 14 countries that were submitted for 30 categories in this year’s competition. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness, and function. Judges included industry experts, architects, educators, and design professionals who were chosen for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area.
All entries received recognition at the 2012 IFAI Expo, the largest specialty fabrics trade show in the Americas. For more than six decades, the IAAs have recognized excellence in design and innovation, highlighting spectacular work in the specialty fabrics industry. The goal of IAA is to promote awareness of specialty fabrics that are used in thousands of products and applications worldwide.
