Technical sessions, keynoters highlight quadrennial event

With more than 50 exhibitors, 38 technical and education sessions, two full-day short courses, four keynote lectures, hundreds of attendees, and a gala closing dinner, EuroGeo5 in Valencia, Spain, Sept. 16-19, was even more than a six-course fiesta.

Held at the unique four-floor Centro de Eventos Feria Valencia, EuroGeo5 was organized by the Spanish Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society(IGS), along with other public and private institutions.

The technical, educational, and panel discussion sessions included more than 250 paper presentations by authors from around the globe. The keynote speakers were Manuel Blanco and Ángel Leiro, J.P. Giroud, Nathalie Touze-Foltz, and IGS president Jorge Zornberg.

Geosynthetics magazine was a media partner for this quadrennial event. Geosynthetics and the Geosynthetic Materials Association were represented at EuroGeo5 by Ron Bygness (editor) and Andrew Aho (director, technical markets) from the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI).

EuroGeo6 is already in the planning stages by the Turkish Chapter of IGS and is set for Sept. 25-29, 2016, in Istanbul.

Ron Bygness is the editor of Geosynthetics magazine.
