Propex Geotextile Systems is expanding its Engineering Services Department with four new hires, announced in a May 23 press release from the company.
The move is “an effort to heighten engineering quality standards and to provide direct accessibility to [the engineering] team,” the release stated.
Andy Burran, Ellyn Dean, Drew Loizeaux, and Eric Littel have joined Propex this spring. Burran is a lead applications engineer; Dean, Little, and Loizeaux are staff engineers; and all four are civil engineering graduates from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC).
According to Steve Thaxton, Propex’s engineering services manager, the company is restructuring all of its product, quality, process, research, and equipment engineering roles to make every Propex engineer directly accessible to customers, job engineers, suppliers, and other regulatory agencies. The Propex engineering team will act as a liaison with DOTs in every region with everything needed for quality assurance, project specification, and installation guidance, the release said.
The new team at Propex will provide engineering services primarily for Geotextile Systems and also for the company’s Building Products and Concrete Solutions departments.
The release said that the company’s new initiative is called “Engineering the Future,” with a goal of Propex engineers partnering with DOTs on industry standards and certifications, as well as university outreach.
Thaxton said Propex is doing extensive university outreach and creating internships to bring up new talent in geotextile engineering. “The future of our infrastructure and public safety depend on it,” he said.
